A no-cost opportunity to support our Food Access Fund + renewable energy.

We love a random win-wins!

The short version: If your electric bill comes from Central Hudson, National Grid, Orange & Rockland or NYSEG you can join a community solar farm, get up to 10% discount on your bill, and Rock Steady will get a $200 Food Access donation on your behalf (at no cost to you).

The longer story: Earlier this season, we were approached by Solstice, a manager of community solar farms. They are in the process of recruiting members to join a large solar operation in our area. (You can watch a 2 min video about how programs like this work in New York state - right here.)

Anyway, Solstice invited Rock Steady to be a referral partner - which means for every account that signs up based on our recommendation, we’ll receive a $200 referral gift that can go towards our Food Access Fund.

We already signed up our farm and personal accounts, and have already been able to put those referral gifts towards critical food access work, as well as important internal projects like cooperative development and anti-racism commitments.

We’re in for that, and honestly those funds can make a huge difference for us this season.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Through a partnership with your utility, you can sign up as a member of a Solstice community solar farm in the Hudson Valley. It’s no cost to you, in fact, you’ll receive savings on your electric bill every month as an incentive for choosing solar. No up-front fees, installation, or change to your electricity service.

  2. Because you sign up at our recommendation, the solar farm will send us $200 as a thank you for referring you.

It takes 10 minutes, tops. Are you in for this?

If you want to speak with someone one-on-one, you can call or email Solstice directly, and they can answer any questions you may have and walk you through it. Solstice can be reached at 866-826-1997 or enrollment@solstice.us.
