Video recording + highlights!
Dear community,
HUGE THANKS to all who showed up for our “Meet Your Farmers” online event on Tuesday night. We had 95 people register for the call!
If you couldn’t make it live, or if you were there and want to revisit anything, you can watch the recording right here.
As hands-on, face-to-face humans, it was definitely a learning curve, but we’re grateful for technology and the ability to gather for these important conversations.
Some highlights:
(~ 6 min) “Part of the way that we farm is about [land] stewardship. It’s not just about the now . . . it’s about taking care of the natural ecosystem around us . . .for generations to come.”
(~11 min) “It was really important to create [a place people] can show up to work as their full selves, and also create a model as a co-op where there is more shared power and leadership. Our values don’t end with who’s getting our food, but they are rooted in the rights of our workers and the safer space we’re creating here on our farm.”
(~19min) Food desert v. Food Apartheid, and why the distinction is important.
(~23min) Do you know who Booker T. Whatley is? One of the original thinkers behind the CSA movement, and regenerative agriculture.
(~28 min) Five key ways Rock Steady’s CSA is different than most others.
(~41 min) Introducing our phenomenal crew!
(~47 min) Open Q & A with Maggie, D., Kyle, Amanda, Rica, Hannah
(~56 min) “What is the most fulfilling aspect of farming?” Hear Rica, Kyle and Amanda answer this question, so beautifully.
We covered a LOT of ground - hope you enjoy!
Scenes from the farm this week:
We’re excited to be welcoming lots of new CSA members this week, and can’t thank you enough for your help in spreading the word to your friends and neighbors. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining us this season, or learning more about our farm - feel free to share the event recording with them, or just send them to our website.
As always, get in touch with any questions and comments.
Stay well,
Maggie, D., Amanda, Kyle, Rica, Mika, Amara, Hannah
